Respiratory Equipment
Protective Respiratory Equipment
Respiratory protection is one of the most essential PPE in many working fields. Bansi Suppliers provides only the top of the line respiratory protection against injurious air particles, like dust and oil-based mists, that may cause serious internal injury to workers.
Our equipment is designed to prevent the penetration of particles through to the lungs, where they may build up and thus create serious health problems. These respirators help avoid agglomeration or congestion of the airways, nostrils, and mouth to afford the worker an environment where respiration is comfortable and not labored, even in poorly ventilated areas.
We can also provide a range of respiratory protection equipment suitable for different workplaces and tasks. Our range includes filters-NP 305 & NP 306, full-face masks, and accessories for comprehensive respiratory protection against air hazards.
Under What Circumstances Is Respiratory Protection Effective?
Respiratory protection is effective only in the following cases:
- The user knows when to use the protection.
- The user is familiar with the correct procedures for putting on and taking off the equipment.
- The respirator is immediately available when needed.
- The proper class of respirator is worn for the specific hazard.
- The device is stored based on the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Types of Respiratory Equipment Protection
There are primarily two types of respiratory protection: air-purifying respirators and atmosphere-supplying respirators. Because of their design, each type offers a different level of protection.
- Air-Purifying Respirators (APRs)
- Filtering Facepiece Respirators (FFR): These are disposable respirators that cover the nose and mouth.
- EHMR – Reusable respirators that cover the nose and mouth.
- Elastomeric full-facepiece respirators are reusable respirators covering the nose, mouth, and eyes.
- Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPR) are reusable respirators which generally include a hood or helmet with a battery-powered blower to draw air through filters or cartridges.
- Atmosphere-Supplying Respirators (ASRs)
- Provided Air (SAR): respiratory protection which is connected to an external source of air via a hose and supplies breathing air from outside the work area.
- Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA): These have an onboard air supply and are therefore portable. There are open-circuit and closed-circuit types of SCBAs.
- Combination Supplied-Air/Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus: This apparatus contains a small self-contained air supply in case the main air supply fails.
Things to Consider When Buying Respiratory Equipment
To ensure you select the right respirator, consider the following:
- Types and Toxicity of Contaminants: Determine what contaminants may be present in the air.
Concentration Levels of Contaminants: The concentration of toxins or contaminants in the air - Particle Size: The depth to which particles can enter the respiratory system and the length of time they may remain suspended in the air
- Activity Level and Breathing Rate: Choose the right respirator on the basis of the activity to be performed because respirator may make breathing more difficult compared to open air.
- Duration of Exposure: Estimate the duration that employees could be exposed to dust particles.
- Age and General Health: Respiratory protection is crucial, particularly for older employees and those prone to asthmatic attacks among others.
